Time and Motion Study No. 2 was originally finished in 1976, and premiered in 1977 by cellist Werner Taube. On the occassion of Brian Ferneyhough's visit to UC San Diego in March 2015, cellist Tyler Borden and computer musicians James Bean and Paul Hembree performed the piece with a new electronic interpretation, using MAX/MSP for processing, as well as tablets and foot pedals for control. The trio re-performed the piece at a special masterclass with the composer at June in Buffalo 2015.
